softOSM can work with any display device that supports the DDC/CI protocol, and can communicate via practically any host-side graphics controller from 3dfx, 3dlabs, ATI, C&T, Cirrus Logic, Intel, Matrox, NeoMagic, Number Nine, NVidia, Rendition, S3, Silicon Motion, SiS, Trident, VIA, VideoLogic, or XGI - regardless of the level of OS or driver support.

softOSM (OnScreen Manager)

EnTech's softOSM is a turnkey, customizable software application for display OEMs. Using softOSM a display maker can actually cost-down an overall display solution while simultaneously adding features commonly found only on today's most premium models.

A universal, virtual OSD

First and foremost, softOSM is the most compatible, efficient, host-based, OSD-replacement ever created. Leveraging EnTech's next-generation softOSD™ platform, softOSM features fast, reliable DDC/CI communication through virtually every GPU currently in use and does so under Windows 95 through Windows Vista (including 64-bit editions). From this day forward, displays can be tuned more quickly and precisely using a software application-and it is less costly for a display maker to implement than a conventional OSD. By offering, for the first time, comprehensive, real-world compatibility in a self-configuring, zero time-to-market, low-cost, OSD-replacement, softOSM fundamentally changes the display-making proposition.

softOSM licenses are available to qualified, branded display makers at costs typically below those required to implement conventional OSD control elements on today's displays. When used to create buttonless or button-reduced displays, softOSM directly costs-down the display's BOM while simultaneously adding host-based display tuning, rotation and remote display management features.

Simplified, open-standard display implementation

softOSM is designed to comply with VESA's DDC/CI and MCCS standards and is equally well-suited for use on LCD or CRT displays. Its graphical user interface self-configures to provide controls consistent with a display's capabilities and its firmware. The iterative cycle between display maker and software provider is greatly reduced, usually amounting to simple branding and customization options. Time-to-market is decreased. Mechanical elements and moving parts are eliminated and with them goes the last signature of the integration house that caused your ID to look a little too much like your competitors'. With softOSM, display makers can add their own differentiated features simply by modifying the display's capabilities and updating its firmware. Display makers who partner with EnTech can take advantage of the softMCCS diagnostics application to further reduce time to market.
